Established in 1989, Laurel Lake Retirement Community is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) offering multiple home styles within 150 scenic acres in historic Hudson, Ohio. Located just one mile from Route 8 and the I-80 Ohio Turnpike and 4 miles from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Laurel Lake offers easy access to the world-class cultural and medical centers of Cleveland and Akron.

Lifestyle options include independent living in 225 apartments and 66 villas; 59 assisted living apartments in Greenwood; and licensed skilled nursing and rehabilitation in the 75-bed Crown Center.

Campus amenities include three on-site restaurants and a pub, a fitness & aquatic center, arts & crafts studio, library, bank, salon, gift shop/convenience store, woodworking & hobby shop, chapel, a medical clinic and therapy center. Outdoor recreational spaces include sheltered courtyards and gardens, three stocked fishing lakes, six miles of nature trails, a 3-hole practice golf course, woodlands and protected wetlands.

The Life Care Difference

Type A “Extensive” Life Care

Laurel Lake offers Type A Life Care, the most comprehensive residency plan available. In paying initial entrance fees and monthly service fees, Laurel Lake residents with Type A plans need not worry about the potentially devastating effects of a long-term nursing home stay on their finances. Their contract assures them unlimited days in the community’s assisted living or skilled nursing facilities, at little extra cost.

Other Residency Options

Laurel Lake also offers a Type B “Modified” Fee-for-Service plan, with lower entrance and monthly fees for those who have long-term care insurance policies. When planning for the future, people who choose Laurel Lake clearly see the protection afforded by Life Care.

Many people are surprised to learn that Greenwood welcomes new residents directly from our greater community—you don’t need to start out in Independent Living. Laurel Lake Hospice helps adults and their families live as fully as possible during an advanced illness. Our mission is to provide compassionate care and hope while respecting the choices of patients and their families during their end-of-life journey.

Our hospice team delivers care to individuals staying anywhere within the campus—in apartments, villas, assisted living, or skilled nursing. We provide expert care, counseling, education, and a holistic care plan that includes pain management and symptom control.
