Our community isn’t just about where you live—it’s about how you live. Assisted Living: A Northaven Community

While open to seniors of all income levels, Northaven upholds a proud tradition of serving low-income, Medicaid-dependent elders. Northaven as a whole is committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care, tailored to the individual needs of our residents. Northaven Assisted Living provides assistance with basic personal care needs, medication management, bathing, dressing, memory support cues, care management/transition support, and more.

Each studio apartment features a fully private bath and refrigerator, alongside amenities such as cable TV, Wi-Fi, and landline phone connections assistance. Our highly trained and caring staff contribute to Northaven’s reputation for high-quality care and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Many of our staff members have been with us for years, forming strong bonds with residents as well as families who appreciate the stability and continuity of care they provide.

A sense of community thrives among our residents, with families welcomed, and supported during times of illness, recovery, or end-of-life care. Northaven is often described as feeling like home, thanks to the special kind of care we offer and continue to offer for the long-term needs of our elderly population.

Life enrichment activities abound, from lively exercise sessions to live music, painting, crafts, nature presentations, shopping trips, walking groups, and more. Residents can also enjoy three meals a day in our dining room, with coffee, tea, fresh fruit, and snacks available throughout the day. Northaven has monthly Food Forums with our residents to see what they would like added or changed to our menu which is one big perk of living at Northaven, the food variety options available to our residents. While encouraged to dine communally, residents may also request meals in their apartments or visit the dining room in our adjacent Independent Living facility that is a short walk away.

Assisted & Independent Living Exercise Programs

Welcome to Northaven’s Fitness Program, where the joy of movement and personalized fitness are at the heart of what we do. Our program is designed to help each individual discover what fitness means to them, focusing on what feels best and is most enjoyable for their body. We offer a diverse range of classes to suit all preferences and abilities, including Seated Yoga, Tai Chi, Weight Training, Aerobics, Walking Groups, Balance Classes, Personal Training, and Meditation.

For our Assisted Living residents, we provide dynamic exercises that are both enjoyable and accessible. Our offerings include instructor-led classes, interactive videos from Rhode Island University’s Em-star program, Balloon Badminton, Group Walks, and Resistance Band Training. Additionally, Assisted Living residents have the opportunity to join classes at our Independent Living community and utilize our 24-hour fitness center.

Mobile Healthcare Visits

At Northaven, we bring essential healthcare services right to your doorstep. Our Visiting Healthcare Professionals offer convenient and specialized care with Onsite Dermatology, Foot Care, and the Sound Associates Hearing Clinic. Enjoy the ease of receiving top-notch medical attention in the comfort of your home, with services available on the first floor of Northaven.

• Onsite Dermatology: Visits Northaven on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
• Foot Care: We have an RN specializing in foot care who comes in to trim toenails, examine and treat calluses, bunions, blisters, corns, and more.
• Sound Associates Hearing Clinic: Visits once a month, offering complimentary consultations, minor hearing aid repairs, hearing aid cleaning and checks, medical referrals, and hearing evaluations.

Peace of Mind with Housekeeping Services

Assisted Living Housekeeping

In our Assisted Living residences, we provide weekly housekeeping and laundry service at no extra charge. Our weekly cleaning service encompasses:

• Cleaning of shower and bathroom sink

Healthcare with our Nursing Wellness Clinic

At Northaven Senior Living, the health and well-being of our residents are of utmost importance. Our Nursing Wellness Team is here to support you on your health journey, providing office hours several days a week on both appointment and drop-in basis. Our Wellness Clinic team members serve as trusted resources, assisting you in navigating changes related to your health and accessing healthcare services, including blood pressure screenings and provider referrals.

Wellness & Fitness Programs

Our Wellness Team promotes successful aging through collaboration, education, and engaging programming across a wide variety of wellness factors. Residents and staff, led by a Resident Council, Life Enrichment Coordinator and Wellness Director, work together toward this goal.

Support Services

Experience unparalleled support with our dedicated Resident Service Coordinators, who are here to guide you through Medicare/Medicaid, provide valuable referrals, and lead empowering monthly support groups. Our compassionate Wellness Nurses are available for consultations and offer essential services such as foot care and medication management.

Transportation Services

Medical Transportation

Our medical van service is here to alleviate the stress of getting to appointments on time. Operating Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 3 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 1 pm, our medical van provides reliable transportation to care providers. Depending on your location, a round trip is priced at $6, $10, or $14.

Assisted Living Outings

Each Thursday, our Assisted Living residents embark on scenic drives, shopping trips, or visits to local attractions, including the beloved cat café. These outings foster camaraderie among residents and staff, creating lasting memories and strengthening our community bonds.
