Nestled in the heart of Northeast Houston, Nixon Assisted Living offers more than a place to live—it’s a place to thrive. Founded in 2004 by Debora Nixon, RN, this licensed ten-bed, Type B facility was born from her deep compassion as a home health nurse. Debora saw the need for a nurturing, homelike environment for individuals who could no longer live safely at home but didn’t require the full scope of skilled nursing care. Her vision was simple yet profound: to create a “Home Away from Home” where residents are treated like family.

Independent Living

About Nixon Independent Living Center

Nixon Independent Living, located in Northeast Houston, is a place where seniors can live independently, carving out their lives without the stress of living or juggling the various tasks that accompany living alone in a traditional home setting or residence. Our residents enjoy private apartments with classic comfort, amenities, and engaging activities. We provide services to all eligible clients, which include our veteran community. Our services include:

• Three daily nutritional, well-balanced meals
• Light housekeeping
• Medication Administration Support
• Transportation to and from doctor’s appointment
• Free adult day services if desired or indicated

About Nixon Adult Day Care

Nixon Home Care, Inc. is a nonprofit Houston, Texas-based licensed Adult Day Care Center that specializes in providing supervision of seniors and adults with physical and mental impairments while their full-time caregivers work or take respite.

Nixon Home Care, Inc. obtained 501c3 nonprofit status in May, 1997. We have been successfully providing adult day care services since. Our mission is to be a home away from home for our clients. Our vision is to be a leader in Adult Day Care services. Our philosophy is to be committed to our clients. We offer reliable quality adult day care services in both English and Spanish and we strive to truly make a difference in the lives of the families we serve.

Our staff is trained to offer the highest degree of practical and positive adult day care services and programs. And they are certified to be able to do so. Our promises are to be prompt, friendly and courteous, sensitive and responsive to the needs of our clients and their families.

Nutritious Congregate Meals

We prepare and serve healthy congregate meals daily that include one hot noon meal with two ounces of meat, 1/2 cup of fruit and/or vegetables, one cup of milk and two servings of bread. We serve mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Clients are provided with feeding assistance (i.e. spoon feeding, bread buttering and milk opening) when necessary. All meals are prepared at our facilities and served according to federal and state nutrition and food handling guidelines and in accordance with doctor-ordered dietary restrictions.

Transportation

Our seven-van fleet provides clients with door-to-door round trip transportation to and from our centers between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekly and to and from social activities and appointments. We serve the entire 1,729 square mile Harris County, Texas region and all drivers are certified and licensed to ensure the safety of our clients during transport regardless of their level of disability.
