Kimochi Home Residential & Respite Care Details

Residential Program

Kimochi Home’s residential program houses up to 20 ambulatory & non-ambulatory seniors in either single or shared rooms. Residents are under 24-hour supervised, non-medical care. Staff provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, and taking medications.

Respite Care Program

The respite care program is temporary, short term, 24-hour supervised care for seniors. This service is available for families in need of backup care for an elderly member, especially during periods of caregiver burnout and stress, or during family vacations where a senior is unable to travel. The program is also an option for seniors who are being discharged from the hospital or who have recently been ill and need a temporary place to stay until they feel healthy enough to return home.

Services Provided in Both Programs:

• 24 hours supervision in a secured building
• Three nutritious Japanese style meals
• Social and recreational activities
• Monitoring of general health and development of appropriate care plans
• Housekeeping services including laundry
• Regular assessment to monitor care level

Senior Center Activities

Seniors are encouraged to participate in activities at Kimochi Senior Center. Staff and volunteers offer a variety of monthly activities for independent and active seniors to stay healthy, both mind and body. We have a range of classes from singing, bingo, and drawing, as well as informational workshops.

Adult Day Program

This program is licensed by the State of California to provide seniors in need of supervision and support with a schedule of social and recreational activities in a safe and secure setting.

Seniors enjoy a variety of supervised social, cultural, and recreational activities at Kimochi’s Adult Day Program. Bilingual staff, trained in programming and providing services to seniors requiring social, emotional, and physical support, develop a monthly activity calendar. Seniors feel safe, are active and entertained while families receive respite from caregiving responsibilities. Family members can rest assured that quality care and safety are provided in their absence.

Community Dining Program

At Kimochi’s Community Dining Program, a nutritious, well-balanced, Japanese-style hot lunch is provided five days a week, Monday – Friday (Closed on U.S. federal holidays) in a communal-table setting. Our menu is carefully planned and prepared by our Nutritionist and staff to ensure each meal is healthy, nutritionally balanced and adequately proportioned for seniors.

Kimochi Transportation Services

Door-to-door Transportation Services are offered to seniors who find it difficult or are unable to use public transportation. Transportation Services staff drive and escort individuals and groups from their homes to Kimochi program sites. Other transportation, including trips to grocery stores and medical appointments, can be arranged. The general service area is San Francisco’s Japantown, Western Addition, Richmond and Sunset districts.

• Group rides available (ridership per van is limited).

Our Kimochi drivers possess a valid Class B Passenger Endorsed Driver’s License and undergo Standard First Aid/Adult CPR Certification and Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) training. Our fleet includes ADA certified/wheelchair accessible small buses, minivans and cars. Based on the transportation needed, appropriate vehicles are scheduled for use.

Social Services

Case Management (Social Services):

Kimochi offers a variety of social services for seniors. The goal of Kimochi’s Social Service programs is to provide support and activities that will enable individuals to maintain independent living. For In-person meeting, Phone or Video conferencing appointments are recommended.
