Residents pay a significant upfront entrance fee, typically ranging from $1M+, to secure their place, along with monthly fees for services like dining and housekeeping. What is Life Care Planning?

We help identify present and future care needs. It is a financial model that helps manage your financial status and protects resources, so you do not require long-term health care insurance. At Carmel Valley Manor, we help you get the care you need while preserving resources. There are no additional fees for a higher level of care.

Life Care Contract

The Life Care Contract includes three levels of healthcare. Qualified residents move into a full-service independent living apartment. Skilled nursing and assisted living services are available as needed at no additional cost. Carmel Valley Manor is the only Life Care Community in Monterey County.

Monthly Fee Agreement

A limited number of independent living apartments are available for a simple monthly fee, with medical support services, as needed, at additional competitive fees. Unlike the Life Care Contract, this new, flexible option does not require an entrance fee.

For over half a century, we’ve been providing seniors with the opportunity to relax and enjoy every day. But how did we come to provide this exceptional lifestyle? Carmel Valley Manor was established in 1963 by Northern California Congregational Retirement Homes, Inc., a California not-for-profit organization. We are governed by a voluntary local Board of Trustees, with residents represented through the Residents Council. The Manor operates as a Life Care Retirement Community with the oversight of the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Hillcrest, our assisted living center, is licensed as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly by the California Department of Social Services. Our Health Center is licensed as a skilled nursing facility by the California Department of Public Health.

Our first goal is preserving your independence. So to help maintain your wellness, we offer the following: a fully equipped fitness center with professional staff; swimming pool for lap swimming or water aerobics; scenic trails for enjoying nature and fresh air; a community garden where you can grow vegetables or flowers, and fresh, locally sourced meals in our elegant dining room.

But if your health care needs change, Life Care is there for your peace of mind. It’s like a gift that you give your children, and yourself. No need for them to worry, or you. Your support system is in place at all times, with an emergency response system, on-site clinic and licensed RN’s available 24 hours a day. If you need more care, like temporary in-home assistance or our Hillcrest assisted living — those are available, too. And it’s all covered in your basic fee structure. So you don’t have to face a major drain on your assets, even if you need long-term care. And that’s the kind of health care that makes you feel really good.

Convenient Care With Our On-Site Clinic

Health care hasn’t been this convenient since doctors made house calls. And, if you’d like, you can keep your primary physician. But right here at Carmel Valley Manor, we have a physician on-site two days a week. You can get your yearly physical or a flu shot. We can also provide referrals for x-rays, physical therapy, counseling, specialists and more. We even have an alert system for injuries, falls and sudden acute illness. It’s an incredible support system.

Assisted Living

When You Need A Helping Hand

If the time comes that you need extra help in your daily life, Hillcrest Assisted Living is there for you. We’ll help make sure it’s a smooth transition. The first priority at Hillcrest is preserving your wellbeing, dignity and personal rights. When decisions are made, you and your family are always involved.

At Hillcrest, meals are served in the beautiful private dining room, snacks are available and fun activities are offered regularly. But when you need help, the highly trained staff is right there to assist you, whether it’s with medication, personal care, or other tasks, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Best of all, this higher level of care will not cost you more.

Skilled Nursing

Licensed Professionals, Caring Individuals

If you need round-the-clock nursing care, there’s our licensed health center. This is a great option if you’ve had surgery or an acute illness. It’s also appropriate for those who have memory issues or need respite care. Our skilled nurses believe in treating all with kindness, compassion, hospitality and professionalism. Generally, your care will be provided by a staff that already knows you and understands your health history. Yet all this is part of our comprehensive Life Care program. Here, you are surrounded by friends, and that may be the most reassuring thing of all.

We’ll help you take your new apartment or cottage from a house to a home. First, choose a floor plan. From studios all the way to generous 2 bedroom cottages, we’ve got the single-story living space you want. No more climbing stairs. If you wish to change colors and fixtures, we can arrange to have the interior made over to suit your taste. Settle in and display your treasures. It’s all about making yourself and your guests comfortable. Our staff will keep your residence sparkling clean, and even change the linens. Take advantage of indoor/outdoor living in Carmel Valley’s ideal climate. It’s easy with your own patio or balcony. Add a few flower pots and you’ll find you have a great place to entertain or quietly enjoy the magnificent views. And for an added convenience, Carmel Valley Manor has seven on-site guest cottages for your visiting family members.
