Memory Care

Both seniors and their families face unique challenges in the face of memory impairment or memory loss, but this does not mean that a person with dementia cannot enjoy living life to its fullest. At Monarch Cottage we help residents achieve a full life by tailoring care to their individual needs.

Memory care is a specialized form of care aimed at individuals who have some degree of dementia or other related conditions. By creating a safe and structured environment and founding their day on set schedules or routines – whilst also allowing adequate input into the decisions that are made on a daily basis – our staff can focus on individual strengths and help our residents feel more like themselves.

The care staff at Monarch Cottage are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means they are always there to help make residents feel comfortable and part of a caring and loving community. As well as providing a structured and stable environment, they are there to help with a wide range of activities, including but not limited to:

Hospice Care

Dealing with an illness that is life-limiting or terminal is very difficult for a senior and their loved ones. At Monarch Cottage we believe that the care, treatment and support provided during this time can make a huge difference to their quality of life.

Our hospice care is tailored to each individual. We provide medical care, manage pain, and provide emotional support to both the resident and their family, with an aim to relieving the physical and psychological suffering of this difficult time, and making life as comfortable as possible. Hospice care at Monarch Cottage includes services such as:

• The management of pain and relief of symptoms
• Personal care such as bathing, toileting and getting dressed
• Medication and other supplied or equipment as required by the care program
• Physical or speech therapy
• Emotional and spiritual support for both the patient and their family
• Grief counselling for loved ones

We guide their specific care and life enrichment program while emphasizing comfort in daily life with engagement in meaningful programs.

Our holistic approach involves the resident, family, friends, medical professionals, and other influencers who are part of our residents’ lives to develop a life style plan. The plan incorporates every dimension of wellness.

We provide specialized services to our residents who have Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of cognitive impairment and are in need of supportive services which may include Hospice or Respite Care.
