Resident Services

Attendant Care

Team members are available to assist residents with their individual needs. This varies for each person. It may include hygiene/grooming assistance, medication management, laundry service, taking and recording vital signs, cleaning, and other as-needed assistance services.

On-duty Team Members, 24/7

There are team members working throughout the community at all times. During the daytime hours there are 2 Personal Care Attendants to provide personal care services for the residents. Overnight there is 1 Personal Care Attendant who answers the Life Alert Calls and tends to regular needs.

Medication Management

Medication management for residents needing help with their medication is offered in our Level Two & Three Care. Golden Age Home will order, have medication delivered, call the doctor for refills, obtain necessary orders when there are medications changes and store medication in a locked medication cart (which includes a double lock safe for controlled medication). This also includes the supervision of the medication and making sure that a resident takes the medication at the appropriate time and how often it is needed per day/week/month. For controlled medication, there is a count in and out system for each shift to ensure the safety and accuracy of the medication.

Diabetic Assistance

Diabetic assistance for residents needing help with managing their diabetes is offered in our Level Three Care. A team member can assist with diabetic checks by reminding the resident what time they are to be done; giving verbal cues; ordering, storing & handing the resident the supplies; disposing of the supplies to ensure proper disposal and documenting & reporting the results. At no time can a Golden Age Home team member give injections. Residents are also required to recap insulin flex pens on their own, so that used pen needles can be safely disposed of in a Sharps container.

Emergency Call System

Upon admission, a resident receives a Life Alert Call button. This button may be worn as a necklace or a wristband. When pushed, this button alerts our team members that the resident needs help and gives the resident’s general location for quick assistance to be rendered.

Nutritious Well-Balanced Meals Daily

The dietary team offers three nutritious and well-balanced meals daily. Additionally, there is a salad bar offered during the noon meal and a soup appetizer offered during the evening meal. These meals are served restaurant style to the residents in our dining room.

Special diets that can be accommodated include:

  • Low-sugar
  • Chopped or soft foods
Social Activities

The Activity Coordinator and team provide a variety of meaningful and purposeful activities throughout each day. Engage in a full calendar of events, including yoga, bingo, crafts, and more. Regular outings to stores, restaurants, museums, movies, and more are planned utilizing our bus. These activities also include inter-generational programs both in the community and at the local schools. There will not be a transportation fee for these special outings; however, residents may be asked to pay for the cost of admission tickets, food, etc. Overnight and out of state trips will not be offered.

Transportation

Many lose the ability to drive and/or safely get in and out of a vehicle as they age. Yet the need to go to appointments as well as the desire to go places does not fade. Golden Age Home helps bridge the gap by offering transportation services via a wheelchair accessible 12-passenger bus for a minimal fee. Transportation is offered for medical appointments up to a 60-mile range. A caregiver may accompany a resident to an appointment if arranged in advance.

Laundry Service

Team members pick up dirty laundry then wash, dry, fold/hang and return to the residents’ room 1-2 times per week (or when necessary). Each resident’s laundry is done separately and not co-mingled. Linen service to change sheets is offered once a week (or when necessary). Residents need to provide HE laundry detergent and a laundry basket/hamper.

Concierge Services

Assistance making appointments, online shopping, arranging transportation, and much more is offered through our front office team at no additional fee. This service is available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. An appointment may be necessary.

Cable Television

All resident rooms are enabled with the basic cable package from Spectrum Cable.

Community Amenities

It is our desire to provide comfortable and inviting areas for both residents and their visitors.

Activity Room

The spacious activity room serves as host to most events, (such as Christmas parties, guest speakers and more.) There is an area for riding stationary bikes, watching TV, and playing card/board games.

Community Room

A large community room is located at the end of the office wing. This room is rented to various groups within the Lockhart community for gatherings for a small fee, and holds up to 50 people. It is also used to host some of our activities and parties.

Restaurant-Style Dining Room

Residents enjoy dining together in the restaurant-style dining room. Additionally, there is a salad bar offered during the noon meal and a soup appetizer for the evening meal. Visitors are welcomed to join our residents for a low cost.

Chapel

Bible studies and worship services are held in our beautiful chapel. Golden Age Home is fortunate to have participation from a wide variety of churches/denominations. Residents can choose to attend one, all or none of these religious services. All Denominations welcomed here! Please see the activity calendar to participate in your preferred service.

Beauty Salon

Our on-site beauty salon gives residents the choice to stay in the community and have their hair done if they choose. Golden Age Home contracts a local beautician to operate an independent salon inside our facility. Pricing is set by the beautician and payments are rendered separately from Golden Age Home. A price sheet is available upon request.

Laundry Room

We offer a self-serve laundry room at no charge or laundry services at $50 per month.

Sitting Areas & Sunrooms

Numerous sitting areas give the residents and their visitors ample space to play table games, work on puzzles or chat over a cup of coffee. There are four sunrooms overlooking the Golden Age Home campus. These areas give the resident the feeling of sitting on the front porch all the while having the comfort of the indoors.
