Nazareth House is a Catholic Assisted Living community that welcomes people of all faiths.

Nazareth House San Diego sits on a lush hilltop overlooking California’s first Mission. Residents are offered a variety of care levels, suited to many changing needs.

The easily accessible residential buildings and surrounding gardens were designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and welcoming for active seniors looking for supportive services and compassionate care in a spirit-centered community.

Residents are encouraged to retain their independence, comfortable in the knowledge that any assistance they may need is readily available.

Beautifully appointed rooms let you feel at home and offer private bath facilities. A private dining room offers nutritional meals while smaller kitchens offer coffee and snack options.

We Care

Nazareth House San Diego Sisters and staff are dedicated to provide a safe and loving atmosphere where seniors are encouraged to maintain their independence and continue pursuing their life passions.

The campus is located on a single level with easy access to all activities held in a variety of settings, including a stained-glass chapel, exercise and dining rooms and cozy sun-rooms.

There is ample free parking available for residents’ cars.

The specific needs of each person are met in a variety of ways, be it social interaction, nutritional requirements or medical management.

The Nazareth House team provides exceptional care to individuals according to their needs. As those needs evolve, staff is there to help residents adjust to life changes with respect and dignity.

Types of Care

Independent Living

Nazareth House San Diego provides a comfortable setting where residents celebrate their accomplishments, meet new friends and continue to live at their own pace.

This is ideal for residents who can care for themselves but who do not want to burden themselves or their families with the myriad tasks associated with maintaining a household.

Delicious and nutritious meals are offered daily and housekeeping services are provided as requested.

The gated community with its beautiful gardens offers secure and peaceful outdoor areas for walking, reading and meditating.

A full range of life enrichment program is offered on campus.

Daily Mass is offered in our peaceful chapel.

Residents who choose to keep their own cars may park them on campus and come and go as they please.

Assisted Living

Nazareth House San Diego offers a wide range of services designed to meet resident needs.

Such services may be as simple as assisting with medications or as comprehensive as providing help with daily living.

A special plan is tailored to the needs of each resident. Monitoring and supervision is provided 24 hours per day.

Care is provided in accordance with physician orders and our staff maintains regular contact with residents’ physicians.

Licensed nurses are on the premises 24/7.

Care Center

The Care Center offers full-time supervision.

Whenever possible, services are provided to residents in their own rooms or apartments. However, residents who cannot be left alone for extended periods of time, or for those whose care requires frequent monitoring by licensed staff, choose our Care Center.

This choice offers frequent health monitoring, supervision and medical care.

Hospice and Palliative Care

Invariably our residents choose Nazareth House as their final home. As care needs increase, the majority of our residents do not want to give up the sense of security, familiarity and peace that have become an important part of life at Nazareth House.

They don’t want to spend their final days in an acute care hospital; nor do they have to. A majority of our residents choose to enroll in hospice care which enables them to pass the final months of their lives in relative comfort surrounded by family, friends and an experienced and caring staff.

Families who chose to provide hospice services at home, but found the challenge overwhelming, are invited to apply for admission to Nazareth House.

Living Spaces

A special feature of Nazareth House is our garden apartments with patios that open to our beautifully landscaped courtyards. These covered patio areas are perfect for early morning newspaper reading and coffee or late afternoon teas.

Nazareth House San Diego sits on nine acres, surrounded by lush gardens, towering trees and palms.

A walking path circles the building with several shaded seating spaces designed for visiting, relaxation, and meditation.

Private rooms and double room suites are perfect for individual needs. Features include outdoor patios, internet capability, and en suite bath facilities. Housekeeping and laundry is provided as needed.

Shared spaces inside the house include a 150-seat chapel framed with stained glass windows, a theater auditorium, beautifully appointed solariums for small meetings and parties, with cozy tea rooms in each wing.

Nazareth House San Diego is nestled in the hills of Mission Valley overlooking California’s historic San Diego de Alcala mission.

Views from the paved walkways include the mountains to the east and grand vistas to the south. It is Spanish in its architecture; vibrant in its welcoming.

A morning stroll with friends provides the energy to start your day. Late afternoon walks make for a good appetite before dinner. Summertime, the sun shines warm for one last trek before bedtime.

Comfortable benches beckon for guests to stop and sit for awhile. Or admire the raised garden beds and pick a strawberry to snack. Last season’s tomatoes wound up on the luncheon menu, garnering appreciative snacks and smiles.

Inside, the building is filled with wonderful nooks and crannies. There is a beauty shop on site to pamper and please.

The huge auditorium boasts a grand piano with plenty of residents and guests who sit and play new tunes and old. A few times a year, beginning and advanced music students hold recitals and appreciate a good audience.

The large wooden doors to the chapel remain open to visitors. The calm environment is particularly settling for those who need quiet time to meditate in God’s house.

Daily Mass and rosary services draw big crowds and the feeling of family and community is strong. Guests are welcome.

Larger screen televisions are placed throughout the area for community viewing. Solariums are furnished with comfortable couches, easy chairs and tables for playing board games: perfect for residents and guests to share quality time with privacy.

Life Enrichment

Good health is a primary concern, both for residents as well as for staff.

Employees, part of the Nazareth House San Diego family, are offered activities and incentives to motivate them to take charge of their own health and well being.

Residents have a different set of plans and goals, again with healthier minds and bodies as the goal. This winning combination has produced great results and lots of big smiles.

Recreational activities make a fun game of staying fit. Great attention is paid to planning games and activities that encourage frivolity from word games to bingo to chair exercising.

Residents enjoy planning their own amusements, as well as joining in planned weekly activities. Check the daily calendar and sign up for some laughs.

Spiritual Support

From the moment you enter its doors, people feel the calm, serenity offered not only in the chapel, but in the faces and personalities of the people who work here and volunteers.

Nazareth House San Diego offers its residents care and support in a spirit-centered, and loving atmosphere. Individuals of all faiths are welcome and supported in their beliefs.

Daily Mass, rosary, and other services are held in our beautiful Chapel. It is a place of solace for thankful prayer.
