We provide the love and care needed to keep your loved ones safely independent.
IT ALL STARTED WITH THERESA
Diane Bourgeois, RN and home health nurse, needed a place for her mother-in-law, Theresa Bourgeois, to assist in daily living activities. Diane and her husband Michael realized that with Diane’s experience, they could create that exact place that they have been looking for – a warm, family-feel, in a safe environment, that encouraged independence. In 2008, they opened the first location – Meadowdale; their first resident, Theresa.
The word quickly spread to friends, family, and other locals, that Serenity Senior Residences is a great place for loved ones to be cared for with around-the-clock care. With a growing waiting list, Diane and Mike built the second location, Aurora, in 2011.
Fast forward to 2022, Diane Bourgeois is still heavily involved, but decided to hand the torch over to her niece, Theresa’s granddaughter, Bridget Ruda McSpadden. The love and care that was provided to the residents 14 years ago is growing and remains the core of our philosophy. With more than 20 personal caregivers, we will be caring for yours and our loved one for years to come.
Rebecca “Becca” Catalano, RN, niece of Diane Bourgeois and cousin to Bridget, has taken over the role of Director of Nursing.
Jeannie Ruda, Our Activities Coordinator, retired from the Jefferson Parish School System after 25 years serving as a School Counselor; A Physical Education Teacher; And A Special Education Teacher.
She is also a retired Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a retired Louisiana Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
In her younger years, Jeannie worked as the Girls & Ladies Supervisor Programs, A Recreation Counselor at several Jefferson Parish Playgrounds, as well as working with the campers at the YMCA in the Youth Dept. doing various recreational activities.
These settings were where she began her love of working at day camps singing songs & doing movement exercises with the campers.
She is now bringing that love & enthusiasm to the residents at Serenity Senior Residences where she is just happy to see the smiles on their faces as they participate in her weekly visits.
