These are wise words from our owner, and they are literally words to live by at The Haven at Windermere. Founded in 1999, our establishment has remained in the same location ever since. Our staff is renowned for knowing every one of our residents by name, as this adds to the personable, warm and family-like environment that makes everyone feel right at home.

The Haven at Windermere is a privately owned company, not a corporation. This means that there are real people serving you and making sure that you are comfortable staying with us. We are a proud member of the Louisiana Assisted Living Association, and our staff is certified in CPR and first aid.

In addition to premier accommodations, we have the absolute best location in Baton Rouge! We are conveniently and centrally located on YMCA Plaza drive, just off Perkins Road at Siegen Lane near I-10.

Independent Living.

What Is Independent Living?
Essentially, it is living just like everyone else – having opportunities to make decisions that affect one’s life and the ability to pursue activities of one’s own choosing. Here at The Haven, independent living is a “Life Style,” and it’s designed on an individual basis.

Independent living typically encourages socialization by provision of meals in a central dining area and scheduled social programs. Residents may choose to live a completely independent “Life Style” or choose to add additional services that are offered. Most meals and light housekeeping are provided.

Independent living is designed for those residents who do not need any assistance with the activities of the day such as bathing, dressing, grooming, walking assistance and transfer assistance. All of the apartments are unfurnished, and all bathrooms are handicap-accessible. Apartments come with full-size stoves, refrigerators and microwave ovens. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings and accessories to decorate as they wish. Leases are on a month-to-month basis with no “buy-in” leases. Enjoy the peace of mind and security of a gated community with 24-hour video surveillance.

The Haven offers complimentary transportation services to scheduled doctor appointments. Complimentary hours are between 7:30am-12:30pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.   A 24 hour notice is mandatory for scheduling the complimentary transportation. The travel distance for the complimentary service must not exceed ta 5 mile radius from the community.

Extended hours and travel distances can be arranged with a 24 hour notice for a fee.

We also provide no-cost transportation on our 16 passenger wheelchair accessible bus to various scheduled outings throughout the month. Be sure to check your calendars and sign up at the front desk to attend.
